This week was good. I can definitely say Bruce Springsteen’s been the most present artist, in both my headphones and my thoughts. I love his ability to sometimes take deep, universal, complex human emotions/feelings and translate them into direct, accessible, catchy songs — such as the restless yearning of Hungry Heart.
I’ve highlighted more heavy metal than usual with Metallica, Sabbath, Maiden and Judas Priest. The first two are bands I’ve long loved, with the latter two I’m just getting into. All exciting.
I’ve bought Alice Cooper’s 1971-1972 run of albums on CD and couldn’t wait to play them.
In terms of new music, Durand Jones & The Indications’ inviting journey into the heart of late 70s soul/disco is growing up to be one of my favorite albums of this year. Yola’s already been up there for a few weeks now.

Great selections. Picking one, the title song from Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The River” needs to be played and discussed by every high school sex-ed class. If not there, it needs to be covered in other classes. This is what life looks like, so be prepared. Keith
